FEATURE-LENGTH DOCUMENTARY
Filmmakers with projects based in Asia and related to Ecology & Ecosystems, Climate & Environment, Wildlife Conservation, or People & Community are invited to apply.
Projects in the development or production stage, with confirmed access to locations and characters, and a ready sizzle, are eligible to apply. Those currently in the research or post-production phase are welcome to apply as observers.
A total of 16 projects will be selected under this category. To learn more about the topics covered by past projects, please refer to the ‘Selected Projects’ section.
If you intend to make a film with a duration of over 40 minutes, we encourage you to apply under the feature length documentaries category.

Filmmakers with projects based in Asia related to Ecology & Ecosystems, Climate & Environment, Wildlife Conservation, or People & Community are invited to apply.
Projects in the development or production stage, with confirmed access to locations and characters, and a ready sizzle, are eligible to apply. Those currently in the research or post-production phase are welcome to apply as observers. A total of 6 projects will be selected for Documentary Shorts for the inaugural year of the lab.
If your film is between 10 and 40 minutes in duration, we encourage you to apply under the documentary shorts category.
GUIDELINES.
WHO CAN APPLY
Filmmakers, producers, and production houses across Asian countries working on documentary projects with an environmental focus are invited to apply.
A maximum of 16 projects will be selected for the Feature-Length Documentary category in greenstories 2026.
A maximum of 6 projects will be selected for the Documentary-Shorts category in greenstories 2026.
TOPICS
1. Ecology and Ecosystems
Films exploring wild spaces - forests, wetlands, oceans, and the intricate ecosystems that sustain life.
2.Climate & Environment
Films on planetary systems and examining the global forces - carbon emissions to shifting weather patterns- driving environmental change.
3.Wildlife Conservation
Films following the animals, scientists, and conservationists working to protect species on the brink
4.People & Community
Films about the communities, cultures, and individuals whose lives are shaped by and who shape the natural world.
APPLICATION METHOD
To submit your application, please complete the online application form with all required details. Entries that are incomplete, exceed the character limit, or are missing the required visual clip will not be accepted. Applications sent via email or post will not be considered.
We recommend reading the information carefully before you begin writing your application.
While the application must be submitted in English, it does not need to be your primary language.

Does your project fit the specified genre, focusing on stories related to environment, wildlife, and conservation that amplify diverse narratives around sustainable futures, such as climate resilience, changing landscapes, innovations and solutions, impact on human lives, agriculture, wildlife species, traditional systems and indigenous knowledge, ecological security, and community well-being?
