No, greenstories is a platform that helps filmmakers develop their stories in a more compelling manner by providing mentorship from some of the top documentary filmmakers and producers worldwide. It offers opportunities to pitch in front of top-notch commissioners and decision makers across various sectors including television broadcasters, streaming platforms, festivals, distributors, producers as well as impact and outreach channels. greenstories connects projects to the right commissioners and facilitates one-on-one conversations to support their development and access the available opportunities.

Question 4

Outside of mentorship and pitching opportunities, does selection of my project guarantee funding or any other support for the film?

Accepted Answer

No. We have an annual set of grants and other awards in the form of further mentorship, festival entries, training, etc., for which the recipients are determined by the sponsors based on the pitches. Further collaborations and opportunities could arise in the course of the one-on-one industry meetings organized after the pitches, but these are not guaranteed and are up to the discretion of the panelists.

Do I need prior experience in documentary filmmaking to participate in the mentoring program?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is preferred that filmmakers have at least 2-3 years of experience. However, first-time filmmakers may also apply. Please note that significant weightage will be given to the 3-4 minute trailer. 
First-time filmmakers also have the option to apply as observers. Selected observers will have access to all the labs, pitching sessions, and curated sessions such as masterclasses, talks, and screenings.

What kind of story idea would Green Stories support?

Green Stories expects submissions of projects on environment, wildlife,  conservation, changing landscapes, climate resilience and vulnerabilities to creatively examine how humans connect with the natural world and renegotiate the evolving relationships in the face of current crises.

Can I apply for more than one project?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you can apply for more than one project. Each project requires a separate application.

What is the time commitment expected from participants?

Accepted Answer

The week-long event from November 6th to 11th, 2025 will be held in Goa.

November 6th to 9th, 2025 (Thursday to Sunday)
Visual and Narrative Labs, 
November 10th and 11th, 2025 (Monday and Tuesday)
Pitches, Business Meetings and Closing Dinner.

All participants are expected to arrive a day prior to the event and can travel back post the pitches.

Is there a cost associated with participating in the mentoring and pitching program?

Application Submission Fees:
Participant with projects: INR 3500

If selected, Participation Fees:
Participant 1: INR 15000
Participant 2 (if any): INR 12000

What is the process after I submit my application?

Accepted Answer

The deadline for submission is June 30th, 2026. Once the call for applications is closed, our selection committee will review all the proposals. The results will be announced in September 2026. All selected participants will be invited to attend the greenstories pitching event scheduled to take place from 11-17 November, 2026, in Goa, India.

Can I participate in the pitching process without going through the mentoring program?

No, it's compulsory for all selected projects to go through the mentorship process.

I don’t have a project right now to pitch, but I still want to attend the mentoring program. Is it possible?

Yes, you may apply as an Observer.

I won’t be able to apply this year. Will there be a 'Call for Applications 2027' during the same time next year?

Do I need to already have a producer on board or secured funding during submission of my projects?

No. You dont need secured funding or a producer on board already.

Will there be any masterclasses or other programs aligned along with the labs?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there will be 2 masterclasses during the week.
Attendance of masterclasses for all selected participants is mandatory.

Yes, the film screenings are open to the general public but require registration. Updates, links, and more information on this will be posted on our social media pages.
